OUR HISTORY
We believe in legacy. We also believe that one person's ceiling is another person's floor. So begins the unique narrative of how Real Estate Uprising, formerly PickensRidnour Commercial Real Estate, was formed.
Sheryl Pickens & Brenda Ridnour, lifelong colleagues and best friends, launched their firm in 2013 with immediate success as being recognized as the "best boutique commercial real estate firm in Dallas, Texas." The two went on to become the Regional EVPs for Truss Holdings, Inc., and served as leaders and mentors for 4Word Women's Dallas chapter, a non-profit organization counseling young female professionals and entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, Pickens' daughter, Merrick Porchéddu, started her own company, Artist Uprising, with the effort to help businesses find and fulfill any creative need by curating and commissioning local artists for the jobs. Artist Uprising began sourcing artists, illustrators, muralists, songwriters & entertainers, sculptors, and photographers for local real estate startups like Common Desk, to local districts like Dallas Design District, Harwood District, Bishop Arts and Highland Park. After being voted as the "#1 Hottest Startup in Dallas" for two consecutive years, Artist Uprising has continued to expand its efforts nationally as a curator and talent buyer for major brands, like Nike, MTV, ABC, Stella Artois, ESPN, Lush Cosmetics, Bumble, Facebook, and more.
In 2019, during one of Artist Uprising's private art exhibits, a collector requested Porchéddu's curatorial services for his office space design needs. When asked where the office was located, the collector replied in a distinguished accent, "I have not found the perfect space as of yet. Do you recommend a commercial broker? And I suppose I will need an interior designer too." Naturally, Porchéddu pulled in PickensRidnour and Artist Uprising's interior design team, and the rest was history.
